Evolutionary Cartography Project.

Using the VUE tool I am about to launch into a project that creates a website based on maps as navigation and information retrieval devices. The site aims to map the relationships between various fields of research, development, theory and practice, which combine to give and insight into the current "state of the global-mind".

The Aim of the exercise is to develop a coherent ontology of all the initiatives, innovations, communities of practice, scientific endeavors, social networks and spiritual practices that contribute to the optimisation of the relationship between human civilisation and the planet we inhabit.

This project aims to develop a credible meta-perspective from which meta-analysis can be drawn. It hopes to provide a resource of integrated, interlinked information relevant to the current leading edge in consciousness evolution and developments arising from it.

The maps being developed for this project will be incorporated in to a wiki platform for collaborative development, and the whole project is open-source.

Stay tuned for the launch of a grand experiment in human/technology co-operation!

John Stewart is an Australian evolutionary thinker who is a core member of the Evolution, Complexity and Cognition Research Group of the Free University of Brussels. He has worked as a labor union official, manager of Australia’s north eastern fisheries, and as a senior policy adviser to the Australian government on labor relations regulatory issues. His main interest is in the development of an evolutionary worldview that reveals to us who we are, and what we should be doing with our lives. His work on the directionality of evolution and its implications for humanity has been published in a number of key papers in international science journals. These include papers on the potential for humans to enhance their psychological capacities through the future evolution of consciousness. He is the author of the internationally acclaimed book ‘Evolution’s Arrow: the direction of evolution and the future of humanity’. More recently he has finalized ‘The Evolutionary Manifesto’ which outlines an evolutionary worldview and explores its relevance to humanity. The Manifesto demonstrates the potential of the worldview to provide meaning and purpose for human existence, and uses it to identify the actions that we need to take if humanity is to fulfill its potential to contribute positively to the future evolution of life in the universe.

Integral Technology?

As a sprout from the seed of an idea last posted; it occurs to me that the emerging semantic web and its imaginable AI evolution could be served well by the AQAL framework developed by Ken Wilbur. Much of the information required to give this emergent 'being' an enlightened overview of the situation which gives rise to it is already encoded and key areas of understanding have become transparent using this method.

Could the key players in IT and AI development come together as a branch of Integral Institute and form Integral Technology?

Seed of an Idea

The internet is poised to become the 'mind' of our planet. We are daily adding content and developing technologies that allow this mind to structure itself in ways that are analogous to thinking.

What occurs to me is that this emerging thinking entity's state of mind is going to have a profound impact upon all of us...

The idea that is seeding itself in my mind is this:

Create a semantically integrated ontology which describes every known path to self-realisation and enlightenment. To include all available information from every tradition and all subsequent developments of the understanding (of which there are several well developed prototypes).

How vital is it that we provide this information to such a being? Just think about it for a moment, then if you are in a position to help develop this idea, or know of someone who has the skills, contact me so we can get into it as a collborative effort.

Meanwhile I will begin with a VUE map of the territory which will include as much information as I can resource...

Insights From Within

From our "inside out" perspective on reality, that which seems to lay 'without' only exists in the context of that which lay 'within'.

The reason why there is a smallest possible measurement (plank length) is that the mind created universe has limits, is finite.

Sentient beings are "observation points" penetrating into the observable experiential context.
All such points are of the same essence, the experiencer is the same in all. The perciever is the same in all. The observer is the same in all.

One mind is thinking all the thoughts, perceiving all perspectives, feeling all the emotions and manifesting as all the phenomena and all forms...

The context in which this situation arises is in, and of, the essence of that which permeates and animates it.
